AstraZeneca – Working collaboratively to support you in “setting the scene” to offering
“High Quality Care for all”.

AstraZeneca is committed to improving patient care and would like to share how we have already made this happen within respiratory medicine. We would like to give you insight into how we are supporting a changing NHS to achieve many of the WCC competencies and meet the QIPP agenda. With the National COPD strategy imminent, we would also like to showcase examples that meet the aspirations of this strategy and share the outcomes with you.
AstraZeneca has designed an interactive and engaging session that will enable workshop attendees to have a clear understanding of AZ tools and how they support many of the recommendations in the COPD Strategy. Delegates will be able to hear about a real life example (AIRWAYS), and understand how AstraZeneca’s tools and clinical service team facilitated change in the NHS to improve patient care, clinical outcomes and reduced expenditure within the NHS.

"The Boehringer-Ingelheim workshop will demonstrate examples of “peer-led” medical education programmes which are designed to be used in convenient and flexible settings.
These educational programmes are intended to improve accurate diagnosis and management of COPD patients. By enhancing knowledge, expertise and confidence among Health Care Professionals, benefits to patients on-going care and long-term outcomes may be seen."

Aim of the Quintiles workshop:
The NHS is charged with increasing Quality whilst reducing its patient spends and without compromise to patient safety.
Quintiles will describe and discuss the provision of a robust model of integrated disease management (IDM) that befits the NHS agenda of quality and service improvement, the core elements of which are:
· Bring patient benefits in terms of COPD functional status
· Reduce the cost burden of disease processes identified within the management of patients with COPD (delivery on the QIPP agenda)
· How it relates to the implementation of the National Strategy for COPD, appropriate management guidelines (e.g. NICE) and alignment to the needs of your local population
· Compatibility with the operational activities of a PCT commissioner, provider and Practice Based Commissioning Group
